The microbial degradation of hydrocarbon always takes place in watery phase. The affection is on the border-plain limited to water to so. So, Cladosporium resinae can kick open the kerosine in the airplane-tank with attendance of water (condensation), for example. The fungi then grow water / kerosine at the border-plain and can block directions and filters with her/its/their mycelium.
On coatings out of asphalt and from bitumen on paper, molds could be found.
